Depending on what role the Space user has in the group (whether he/she is a member or not, whether he/she is a moderator or not, whether he/she is an owner or not), he/she can interact and manage it.

Persons related to the group are:

  1. The owner is the user who has the largest range of rights in the group.

❗️A group can have only one owner.

The owner can:

  • delete group;

  • edit it (name, image, description, type and department staff);

  • invite users;

  • accept or reject requests to join the group;

  • assign moderators;

  • transfer ownership of the group to another user;

  • create a chat;

  • create and delete his/her notes (posts, tasks, files) and manage all group content;

❗️But note that the user cannot leave the group while he/she is its owner.

By default, the person who creates the group becomes its owner. But, of course, you can change yourself to another user when creating and editing a group.

2. Moderator(s) – has the second level of access to the group after the owner.

The moderator can:

  • edit group (name, image, description, type and make certain changes to the department staff);

  • invite users;

  • accept or reject requests to join the group;

  • assign moderators;

  • create a chat;

  • create and delete his/her notes (posts, tasks, files) and manage all group content;

  • leave the group

❗️Please note that a moderator cannot delete a group and cannot transfer group ownership to another user (change owner).

3. Group members are users who have been invited to the group or joined it themselves.

The members can:

  • view information about the group and all content available by rights;

  • create and delete their notes (posts, tasks, files);

  • leave the group

4. Space users who are not members of the group do not have access to the content of the group at all.

They can:

  • join a public group;

  • send a request to join a private group;

Secret groups are not available on the Space groups page for users who are not members of such a group. Also, they will not be able to find them in the search.

You can get into secret groups only if the owner adds the user to the department staff.

🔍 You can read more about the types of groups and how to join them in the following article.
