Sometimes there are situations when you need to quickly refresh the current page or clear the cache while working in Space. We have prepared a short instruction on how to do it ⬇️

Refresh current window (page)

Ctrl+R and Ctrl+Shift+R are both keyboard shortcuts used to refresh pages in browsers. But there’s the difference between them:

  1. Ctrl+R: Performs a normal page refresh. The browser reloads the page using the data stored in the cache. This is a fast way to update because not all resources are uploaded again.

  2. Ctrl+Shift+R (or Hard Refresh): Performs a forced (full) page refresh. The browser ignores the cache and uploads all files from the server again. This is useful when cached data is out of date or there are problems displaying new information.

So, Ctrl+R is better for a quick refresh when there are no problems, and Ctrl+Shift+R should be used if you need access to the latest data from the server or if you have problems displaying the page.

For macOS, Command (⌘) + R and Command (⌘) + Shift + R perform these functions.

Clear the cache

Clearing the cache is the process of removing temporary files stored in the browser to speed up access to frequently used site data.

Sometimes cached data can be corrupted or out of date, which can lead to performance problems. Clearing the cache can help you get the latest updates for Space to work properly.

❗️Please note that cache is one type of browsing data. Therefore, if during clearing you do NOT want to lose passwords, information for autofill forms or site settings, do NOT check these items when deleting browsing data.

Clear cache through developer tools

In some cases, the support team may recommend clearing the cache using the built-in developer panel in the browser. To open it, use the keyboard shortcuts:

🟣 Windows: Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Microsoft Edge - press Ctrl + Shift + I on the keyboard

🟣 macOS: Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari – Option (⌥) + cmd + I.

Then find the Network tab, go to it, open the context menu with the right key and select the option that involves clearing the cache.
